Short Informal Bio

First things first

The name as you might already know is Aameek Singh. However, please note:

  • Its Aameek and not Ameek.
  • Its not AAmeek either !
  • Its pronounced - the same way it reads:  aa - meek

It is a Punjabi and Urdu word which means immeasurable depth.
I was born and raised in Amritsar, in the northern state of Punjab, India - city with the Golden Temple, Durgiana Mandir and Jallianwala Bagh. I spent the first 18 years of my life there and still have great friends from home.

The next stop was IIT Bombay. Two years of unwavering devotion (yeah, right! ;-) took me to the Department of Computer Science, IIT Bombay for my undergraduate studies. The four years there went by fast and all thats left are some wonderful memories. The times spent in my wing were priceless. Not to miss out on non-wing friends - Vahi, Rahul, Vishnu, Kolu, Bhindi, Laddu, Rangnekar, Sista, Gulti amongst many others. And our CS batch (ug98) was the best! I am hosting the web page for our batch.

Post-IIT, I continued on the path of academic enlightenment ;) and started my PhD at College of Computing, Georgia Tech. The five year journey ended recently in May 2007 and the next phase has me in the Researcher role at IBM Almaden Research Center.
